Course Summary

The Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is a highly regarded, nationally and internationally recognised, undergraduate level programme, equivalent to the first and second year of a university degree course. The course is Level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework and has been designed to offer a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills development, alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding of health and social care related areas, both in the UK and overseas. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in key concepts in healthcare practice including, law, evidence based practice, health inequality, reporting and record keeping in health practice. The course will include contemporary themes and current practice. In the second year students are able to undertake a action research project in an area of interest as well as study further key concepts in heath promotion, supporting individuals through significant life events and complementary therapies in healthcare. All students will undertake a healthcare based work placements to develop their own professional practice and meet the requirements to work in the sector.
