Course Summary

This is a two year full-time course, leading to a qualification in therapeutic counselling. It is a university validated course and the part time course is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). It is designed for adult learners who wish to qualify as counsellors. It is validated by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The full time course is a day and half a week. It has a placement requirement as well. Application has been made to the BACP for the full time version of the course to be accredited as well as the part time version.

Standard Qualification Requirements

Preference is given to those who complete Coleg Sir Gâr's Introducing Counselling Skills course. This is the BTEC Award. Others may gain entry but demand often makes this less likely. Admission is conditional on a satisfactory DBS check and references. All candidates will need to meet the Assessment of Readiness to Practice criteria of the college's counselling programme and BACP's entry criteria for counselling programmes. There are more applications than places and the closing date is normally 1st April or even earlier so apply early. Please note that there is also a course application form to complete and return.
