Course Summary

Sheffield is the only major university outside London with expertise in China, Japan and Korea. Guided by these experts, you will learn about the region’s history, society, business and literature. It’s not compulsory to learn a language on this course but there are optional modules in Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The course doesn’t come with a year abroad but you can apply to spend a semester or a year in the region through the University’s Study Abroad programme. East Asian Studies at Sheffield is a bold first step towards a career in South East Asia. All over Europe there are great opportunities for graduates who understand the region. Our graduates work in government and diplomacy, media, the arts, and international business.
