Course Summary

Bioengineering at Sheffield is geared towards students who want a career in the field. The way we teach reflects how the industry works. Rather than working in isolation, you will study in various departments, learning from experts in related branches of engineering as well as computer scientists and biologists. You will work on group projects and take part in the faculty’s Global Engineering Challenge, a team exercise designed to make you a better engineer. The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM). It also meets the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Graduates use their engineering skills to design medical instruments, repair body tissue and develop new processes in drug production. They work industry and the public sector alongside scientists, medical professionals, therapists and technicians.
