Course Summary

The Times Good University Guide 2018 ranks Sheffield 3rd in the UK for architecture. Our strong social and environmental focus puts us right at the forefront of research, working closely with communities as well as governments and businesses to develop our ideas. Student life here is based around the studio, where you will learn to think and act like a designer. Our aim is to free your imagination and help you find your own style. When you’re not attending lectures you will be working on studio projects. The split between the two is roughly equal. The projects get more ambitious as you progress, culminating in the third year with a major project that will really test your strengths as a future professional. The course is recognised by RIBA. Graduates usually do a year in practice before taking an MArch, here or at another leading school. They are architects, consultants, policy makers, critics, journalists – whatever they want to be.
