Whether you want to work in a performance or participation role, in schools, governing bodies of sport, professional sports clubs or commercial sport and activity settings, this course challenges and supports your development. **How you learn** All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. Whether you aspire to coach children, adolescents or adults as a professional sports coach we extend your knowledge and understanding of designing coaching sessions, plan for long-term participant development or adapt your delivery to achieve desired outcomes, we'll help you get there. You learn through * lectures * seminars * tutorials * practical sessions or workshops. * project supervision of your students in an extensive range of research topics * participation in practical coaching activities to demonstrate your ability to develop others * field trips and external visits to enhance your learning There are opportunities to study abroad at one of our partner universities with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus+ programme (until 2023) or the Turing Scheme. **Applied learning** **Work placements** You will have the opportunity to arrange a work placement in between your second and third years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Previous students have found placements in Sheffield, the South Yorkshire region and opportunities further afield, delivering coaching, coach education and coach development in Tanzania, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Spain as well as working with a first division football team in Italy, coaching children in South African townships, and working with the US kayak team.

Standard Qualification Requirements

From at least two A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications one of which must be in Physical Education, Sport Studies or a Science subject (such as Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Psychology). We do not accept General Studies. For example: BBC at A Level including relevant subject(s). DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject(s). A combination of qualifications including relvant subject(s), which may include AS levels or EPQ.

Approved Access to HE Diploma in a sport science or science-based course. Normally we require 15 of the level 3 credits to be graded at distinction level with 6 of these distinctions from science units.
