When you graduate you’ll have the qualifications, credentials, contacts and experience you need for an exciting career in the property sector. We also offer a degree apprenticeship version of this course, where you study alongside 30+ hours of employment a week. **How you learn:** - lectures, including guest speakers from professional practice - seminars and workshops - live projects and simulations, including professional consultancy - field trips - placements All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. You’ll look at how the life-cycle of real estate is core to the economy, the environment and society at large. Property performance influences not only financial returns, but also wellness, mental health, accessibility and inclusivity. Throughout the course, you’ll work with industry figures on a range of exciting real-world projects. **Applied learning - Work placements** In your third year you’ll have the chance to put your professional skills to work – with a placement at one of the major national or regional offices of surveying firms, including developers and asset managers. Your placement year usually contributes 200 days towards the professional experience requirement for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Assessment of Professional Competence. We work with real estate firms across the UK to help all our students gain paid placements – so you can work in a firm that suits you, and where learning informs your final year studies and future career options. **Live projects** Throughout your studies there are a range of industry guests who work with you on consultancy, simulations and other projects – posing real problems for you to solve. You’ll also get to observe and take part in Sheffield Hallam’s £200 million estate development – which will transform the gateway to the city from the train station. The development will cement Hallam’s position at the heart of Sheffield’s economy and cityscape, and will enhance our existing provision of modern spaces designed for collaborative, flexible teaching and learning. **Field trips** On regional, national and international field trips you’ll apply your learning in diverse real estate environments. Previous trips have taken place in Dublin, Belfast, Berlin and Madrid – as well as more locally in Manchester, Liverpool and London. On a regular basis, you’ll benefit from going out into the real world. Many of our graduates are involved in the wide-ranging real estate projects taking place in Sheffield – such as a major redevelopment of a city centre cutlery works. **Networking opportunities** We have one of the largest real estate graduate networks in the UK, with events often taking place in London and elsewhere. You’ll engage with many of our graduates as industry guests and at our annual careers day – hearing how they’re making an impact through their successful careers in the world of real estate.
