Course summary - Explore the scientific, sociological, managerial and political theory and concepts that underpin physical activity, sport and health. - Engage with critical evaluation and participation in innovative research in physical activity, sport and health contexts. - Apply knowledge, skills and understanding of physical activity, sport and health to real-world settings. - Reflect on your personal development of professional practice. - Have the opportunity to work abroad — with the possibility of Erasmus funding being available for European placements. Enhance your understanding of exercise physiology, psychology, nutrition and research methods through theoretical study and practical exercise. Learn to communicate information and ideas clearly in different formats appropriate to a variety of audiences. **How you learn** You're taught by a team of skilled lecturers who offer industry and academic experience. Staff have been published on topics such as the psychology of motivation in exercise and health, physical activity participation in older adults, exercise and appetite, effects of exercise on metabolism in diabetes, perceptions and participation in physical activity during pregnancy. You are given the opportunity to conduct your own enquiries into a range of themes around physical activity. **You learn through** - lectures - seminars and workshops - laboratory practical classes - sport and fitness practical classes - online learning activities - off-site visits (physical activity organisations, schools) - work placements - research projects There are opportunities to study abroad at one of our partner universities with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus programme (subject to the UK’s continued participation in the Erasmus programme following the Brexit transition period). **Applied learning Work placements** A mandatory six-week (minimum) placement in an appropriate setting is a significant component of the course. This provides you with the opportunity to apply theory to real-world practice and further enhance your employability and professional skills. You're also provided with significant opportunities to undertake additional placements, internships and volunteer roles.

Standard Qualification Requirements

From at least two A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications one of which must be in Physical Education, Sport Studies or a Science subject (such as Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Psychology). We do not accept General Studies . For example: BBC at A Level including relevant subject(s). DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject(s). A combination of qualifications including relevant subject(s) and may include AS Levels or EPQ.

Approved Access to HE Diploma in a sport science or science-based course. Normally we require 15 of the level 3 credits to be graded at distinction level with 6 of these distinctions from science units.
