Human geography is a dynamic and exciting subject that focuses on the ways human activities affect the planet. On this course you'll explore complex political, economic, social and cultural geographies, helping you to understand and respond to the ever-changing world around us. **How you learn** All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. You’ll learn through a variety of methods designed to create a stimulating learning environment. First-hand experience is a key part of the teaching approach – and you'll be exposed to a variety of viewpoints from module tutors and their peers. Here we’ll introduce you to contentious debates within the field and encourage you to research and form your own views. You learn through - lectures - fieldwork - seminars - tutorials - case study analysis - group debates and discussion - poster presentations - projects based on real-life challenges, locations and organisations - assessment tasks - practical classes in IT suites **Applied learning Work placements** Take the opportunity to experience a one-year work placement between your second and third years. Here you’ll work with private companies, government programmes or voluntary organisations – either in the UK or Europe. You’ll gain valuable real-world experiences, helping you choose and prepare for your future vocation. You may also be able to work or study abroad with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus+ programme (until 2023) or the Turing scheme. It's a great opportunity to focus on a career path and gain the skills, knowledge and experience you need as a graduate. We have international study exchange agreements with over 100 institutions in 25 different countries. Current exchange locations include Prague (Czech Republic), Paris (France), Neuchatel (Switzerland), Georgia (USA), Ontario (Canada) and Victoria (Australia). **Field trips** We have a strong emphasis on developing skills in the field so you can gain valuable first-hand experiences. You’ll take part in a substantial amount of UK-based fieldwork – including activities in our stunning local countryside and week-long residential trips throughout the UK. Overseas residential field courses also form an integral part of the course, such as a week in New York, Amsterdam or Spain.

This must include at least two A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications, including at least 32 points in Geography or a related social science subject (such as Business Studies, Economics, History, Law, Politics, Sociology). For example: BBC at A Level including a relevant subject(s). DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject(s). A combination of qualifications, which may include AS Levels, EPQ and general studies.

Access course in a relevant subject from an Open College Network accredited course with 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2.
