**Applied learning - Work placements**
You will have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your second and third years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career, and useful industry contacts. Previous placement years have taken place at organisations such as 3M, BAE Systems, Hoya Lens UK, Microsoft, River Island Clothing and Asda.
There is also an opportunity to receive support in running your own business during this time. The Placement Year Enterprise Scheme allows you to receive a bursary from the University's Research and Innovation Office, alongside useful advice and facilities in the business centre. This support is also available for up to five years upon graduating.
**Field trips**
There are field trips that take place throughout the course.
**Networking opportunities**
With frequent guest speakers, a placement year and a close relationship with the local business community and our alumni, there are ample networking opportunities throughout the course. There is also extensive extracurricular activity in this field, particularly from the highly active, student-run Enterprise Society.

Typically you need
• 120 year one credits with at least an overall merit from a relevant business HND, foundation degree or equivalent
or
• 120 year one credits with a minimum overall mark of 55 per cent from a relevant business degree
We welcome applications from people of any age. There may be some flexibility in entry requirements provided you have other relevant learning or experience. This must show that you will benefit from and successfully finish the course.

Additional Fee Information
Our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2021/22 is £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.
