**Course summary** - Prepare for the degree with an extra foundation year at the start. - Learn to manage and interpret the results of analytical work to provide business insight. - Apply knowledge in a variety of contexts including marketing, customer service, finance, retail, healthcare and social media. - Study a language or specialist business subject in your elective module. - Undertake a year-long paid work placement and optional semester abroad. Understand, analyse and interpret data and information and present decision making options with conviction. Study areas including markets and customers, introductory investment appraisal and foundational statistics, all to help you make better decisions to develop profitable and sustainable businesses. **How you learn** The course is suitable if you don't meet the entry requirements for our BA (Hons) Business Analytics course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree. Following a highly practical approach, your learning takes place in a wide variety of settings in order to cater to different learning styles and behaviours. You learn through: - live projects - work placement - semester abroad - self-study and collaborative work - analytical study and critical thinking - presentations - class discussions and problem-solving In the foundation year, you'll study wider business topics, while specialising in your chosen subject area. You'll learn useful skills such as academic writing, work in diverse teams and learn to utilise a wide variety of data sources. In doing so, you'll fully prepare yourself for undergraduate study. **Applied learning Work placements** You will have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your third and fourth years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career with companies such as GSK, NHS, Microsoft, SAP and Virgin. Salaries of up to £30,000 are possible. You also have the option to study abroad for a semester in you third year if you are successful in applying to the global mobility initiative, which allows you to choose from over 40 European destinations and 20 other international university partnerships under English instruction. **Live projects** With the support of academics you are asked to solve a real-world client decision problem through a consultancy assignment in your third year. You are prepared for this task as the assignment synthesises the learning from the previous three/four years' experience.

Standard Qualification Requirements

This must include at least 32 points from one A level or equivalent BTEC National qualifications excluding general studies For example: • CC at A Level • MPP in BTEC Extended Diploma. • A combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels and EPQ.

Access to HE Diploma from a QAA recognised Access to HE course. Normally we require 15 credits at level 2 and 45 at level 3. At least 15 level 3 credits must be at merit grade or above from a QAA-recognised Access to HE course, or an equivalent Access to HE certificate.
