Become a high-quality graduate engineer with specialist knowledge of automotive technology – as well as the professional and personal skills required for a successful career. Prepare to work in vehicle design, vehicle dynamic and control, product, manufacturing, testing, service, maintenance, R&D or other commercial engineering enterprises.
We also offer BEng Honours Automotive Engineering with Foundation Year where you study an initial foundation year to prepare for the course.

**How you learn:**
All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.
You’ll experience and engage in a variety of learning activities as you progress through the course. We’ve designed a balanced mix of activities to help you build knowledge and understanding, while also developing your professional skills and employability. We use practical laboratories and computer simulations to enhance your learning – with lab experiments designed to reinforce your learning of theoretical concepts.

**Applied learning - Work placements**
You’ll have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your second and third years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Although optional (and competitive), a placement is actively encouraged to improve your employability at the end of the degree significantly.
**Competitions**
You’ll get the opportunity to take part in national and international engineering competitions, including:
- Formula Student – where you design and build a race car and race it at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix
- the Heavy Lift Challenge – which involves designing and building a remote-controlled aircraft
- Engineers Without Borders – a competition to find an engineering solution to a problem in the developing world

Standard Qualification Requirements
This must include at least two A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications (to include mathematics (or a mathematics-based subject) and at least one other subject from Physics, Physical Science, Engineering science, Computer Science, Chemistry, Electronics, other Mathematically-based science or technology subject) but excludes general studies. For example:
BBC at A Level including relevant subjects.
DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject.
A combination of qualifications which must include relevant subjects and may include AS levels and EPQ.
Access - an Access to HE Diploma with at least 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2. At least 15 level 3 credits must be at merit grade or above, in a mathematics-related programme from a QAA-recognised Access to HE course, or an equivalent Access to HE certificate
• EdExcel/BTEC/SCOTVEC National Certificate or Diploma in a science or technology-based subject, including merit grades in mathematics and two other science or technology-based modules at NIII level
• Foundation - pass from the Extended Degree Programme Engineering and Mathematics or other suitable science or technology-based Foundation
