Do you want an career in musical theatre? Are you interested in learning more about this exciting and expanding area of performance? If so, why not join us at our new creative arts centre at Hillsborough campus and join a vibrant and exciting course. Validated by Sheffield Hallam University this course allows students to explore the different elements of performing arts with a focus on Musical Theatre. Students will be given the opportunity to create performances for a variety of audiences, and to forge links with local professionals in the arts community. The aim of the course is to provide students with a broad based area of study in the field of performing arts. It will help students to extend their knowledge of musical theatre and to expand their abilities and experiences as an actor. It will develop appropriate transferable skills, self-awareness and the capacity to engage in reflective practice and develop specialist knowledge and skills. The course will include modules on practitioner skills, community arts, contextual studies and performance projects and will provide a foundation for a range of careers in the performing arts and within community arts organisations. You will be studying at Hillsborough campus, where you will be able to take advantage of our recently refurbished, state of the art facilities such as a fully rigged theatre and sprung-floor dance studios. After graduating there are a number of possible routes that can be followed. Some graduates may choose to progress to the top-up year offered here at The Sheffield College (and other HE institutions such as Sheffield Hallam) in order to gain an honours degree.  Applicants who are studying for SHU-validated foundation degrees will receive an offer for their designated full time honours degree progression route at Sheffield Hallam University provided that they submit an application via UCAS by the deadline and meet the criteria detailed below. Applicants who are studying for SHU-validated foundation degrees and who wish to progress to part-time study on their designated honours degree progression route will apply directly to the University. The offer of a place on the BA (Hons) Performance and Professional Practice (top up) degree made by the University will be subject to: Successful completion of the foundation degree programme Submission of a satisfactory personal statement and reference Meeting the University’s literacy and numeracy requirements Satisfying any additional specific course requirements for entry to the designated progression route (eg successful completion of associated bridging studies, portfolio, interview, or any non-academic conditions) Offers are made subject to the availability of courses and the University Terms and Conditions.  Others may decide to apply to a specialist vocational institution for a further year of intensive training in acting or musical theatre or you may wish to progress directly into employment either with professional performing arts organisations or through establishing their own companies.
