Not only does the HND provide students with academic understanding, it also enhances their career prospects and contribute to their personal development. The Higher National Diploma qualification embeds throughout the programme the development of key skills, attributes and strengths required by 21st century employers; this generally refers to skills in five main categories: Cognitive and problem-solving skills (e.g. critical thinking, problem solving, generating and communicating ideas creatively) Intra-personal skills (e.g. adaptability and resilience, self-analysis and reflection, planning and prioritising) Interpersonal skills (e.g. effective communication, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing) Commercial skills (e.g. sector awareness; marketing/promotion; budget management/monitoring) Business skills (e.g. company formation, invoicing, calculating fees, business management) **Delivery Mode** The Higher National Diploma (HND) is a Level 4 and Level 5 qualification made up of 240 credits. It is usually studied full-time over two years. Usually students studying the HND would have achieved at least 90 credits at Level 4 before progressing to Level 5 units. The skills offered as part of the this HND can provide graduates with the opportunity to work in many different areas of the Performing Arts, such as: Costume design Set/prop design Hair and make-up design Stage management Workshop leader, facilitator Freelance make-up artist
