**FIND YOUR CENTRE STAGE, DEVELOP YOUR PASSION AND BECOME A TRIPLE THREAT PERFORMER WITH THIS DEGREE!.** For the consecutive year, SGS has been voted **number 1 for overall degree satisfaction in Bristol!** (National Student Survey 2020 and 2021) **If your passion is Musical Theatre, then this is the degree for you.** This degree is delivered at the Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) based at our University Centre WISE (UCWISE), in the vibrant student city of Bristol, which has an established history of theatres and performance. Bristol is a creative city, and it is renowned for its cultural activities and there are lots of opportunities for our students to get involved in the wider community. This programme will develop your ‘triple threat’ through acting, singing and dance (jazz, tap, ballet) technique workshops closely linked to musical theatre performance projects. Learning through practical exploration of a variety of musical theatre styles, you will demonstrate your understanding through productions, workshops, performance, and research projects. The School of Performing Arts has a 250 and an 80 seated theatre, along with specialised classrooms for singing and dance studios. **This degree is a very practical based course with an emphasis on performance.** Practical modules will focus on essential skills, such as singing and dancing, with 100% practical assessments resulting in **no formal examination**s. The Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) hosts over 30 productions each year which will enable you to develop your skills in a range of contexts and roles. Along with modules that allow you to apply your skills in a performance context and reflect on the experience, drawing on relevant theory to support your understanding. Wider issues surrounding the social and political context of theatre and the historical discourse that has led to the current theatrical landscape will also be introduced and analysed throughout the degree to ensure you are prepared for work in a contemporary creative environment. You may also have the opportunity to participate in a range of trips and past trips have included The Netherlands and New York. Our dedicated staff focus on developing you as an individual, within a creative, enthusiastic, and caring environment. Employability and professionalism is at the heart of this degree reflected by the practical emphasis and development of a professional portfolio. Issues relating to marketing and your online presence will form an integral part of the programme at every level, an area that will be enhanced through the varied performance-based opportunities offered across the three years. This degree will enhance your interpersonal skills and give you the ability to become a dynamic and forward thinking creative, who is independent and able to work in a self-directed manner.
