This part-time degree in Fine Art is taught over 4 years, at our Bristol School of Art which was established in 1858. Bristol School of Art is located in a beautiful area, right in the city centre of student life. There are lots of opportunities for students to get involved within the wider artisitic community. Bristol is one of the leading creative cities and has just been voted one of the best student cities in the UK. This degree offers students the chance to engage with contemporary fine art practice and its relationship to the broader cultural and creative industries. Students will have the opportunity to experiment and specialise in a range of different media including printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, lens-based processes, installation, 3D processes (including ceramics), performance, photography, digital processes, film and sound. The degree is built around taught workshops, independent studio/workshop activities, seminars, tutorials and lectures. It requires students to engage with research and written work as well as design and making. It is a very practical degree and students' work is assessed via practical and course work. There are no formal written examinations. The Foundation Degree is a qualification in its own right and is equivalent to the first 2 years of a degree. Most of our students progress onto our 1 year programme to complete their full degree. ​
