Course Summary

**DO YOU WISH TO IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO ASSISTING, HELPING AND TEACHING OTHERS? THEN THIS COULD BE THE DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR YOU!** This programme will be delivered at our University Centre WISE (UCWISE) at our WISE Campus, where the majority of our degrees are taught. It is **delivered on one afternoon and evening.** Students should be placed in an educational work setting and attendance is currently on a Wednesday afternoon and evening. After successful completion of the Foundation Degree, students will have the opportunity to proceed onto our one year third year programme to gain the* full BA(Hons) degree.* Students who wish to teach can then proceed onto a PGCE. The degree is classed as full-time due to the continued learning in the work placement setting and consequently allows student to access student study loans from Student Finance. You will be assessed via a variety of methods and there are **no formal examinations**. With an emphasis on work-based learning, this course provides an ideal opportunity to gain an academic qualification and enhanced professional development for those working in, or aspiring to work in, or with, schools or an education setting. You will get the best of both worlds by successfully combining learning 'on the job' and college attendance for one day per week, for a formal qualification whilst in employment. You will consider current and relevant research and theory in relation to your setting and, crucially, how these underpin and are applied to your practice. Study areas could include:- Communication, Language and Literacy • Sociology of Education • Behaviour for Learning • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities • Partnership Working • Ethnicity, Diversity and Inclusion • Technology in Education • Researching Practice • Learning Mathematics • Supporting Families **If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at:- headmissions@sgscol.ac.uk**
