Course Summary

**This course is primarily designed for face to face learning with you attending your lessons for the specified hours within the validation document. However, there may be periods of study where the government advises TEC Partnership that it is not safe to open campuses or there is limited access due to social distancing measures. If the Campus is closed TEC Partnership will continue to deliver your sessions online and offer you the necessary support and resources remotely. If there is limited access due to social distancing measures a blended model will be adopted with some lessons happening in small groups and others happening using online sessions and support.** Creating digital design-based solutions can be inventive, elegant, and rewarding. Taking a problem from a client or business then designing and producing a solution is not only professionally satisfying but in high demand in all areas of business, locally, nationally and across the world. Our FdSc Digital Design, offered in collaboration with Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology, will prepare you for working in a Digital Design studio, with the technical, professional, and interpersonal skills required to be successful in this field. Digital Design studios exist in most sectors or individuals are employed or work freelance across most industries, from manufacturing, education, marketing, publishing, to entertainment including TV, film, and games. As a graduate from this course you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to enter a studio with expertise in static graphics and illustrations, interactive and immersive design, and with a portfolio of practical work which will evidence your skills and talents for future employment.

Course Details - Modules

As a student on this programme you will learn the following subjects: Level 4 Introduction to Creative Technologies Introduction to Professional Practice and Study Skills Digital Graphics and Illustration Design for Video Production and Digital Photography Front End Web Design UI and UX Design Level 5 3D Design and Animation Design Practice in Creative Industries (work-related module) Immersive Design and Technologies Digital Imaging Applied Digital Design Project. Each module is awarded 20 credits, apart from the Applied Digital Design Project which is awarded 40 credits.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Units will be assessed through assignment work with a focus on appropriate content relating to professional bodies, employers and Higher Education. Each assessment is graded as a percentage, with 40% being a pass.

Standard Qualification Requirements


Standard offer Standard entry requirement for the foundation degree will be 80 UCAS points, with a minimum of grade C/4 in GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and Maths. Non-standard offer Non-standard entry is intended to support students who may not meet the standard academic entry requirements of a HE programme, normally level 3 qualifications which attract UCAS points (for instance, A-levels or BTEC level 3 courses). In order to qualify through the non-standard route, an applicant must be able to demonstrate recent work/experience in the relevant sector which would give them skills and knowledge comparable to applicants with Level 3 qualifications.
