Designed for students with mathematical abilities who are interested in the theory of the subject and in the application of mathematical methods to commercial and scientific problems, our BSc Mathematics with Accounting develops a rational approach to problem-solving. It concentrates on the methods and modelling techniques of mathematics, but also provides the theoretical background for these ideas. So you will develop a broad knowledge of a range of mathematical skills, together with an understanding of managerial and financial accounting.
Training in the mathematical sciences is highly valued by employers. Graduates in these subjects are in great demand and earn on average 10% more than other graduates. Around 35% have jobs in business or finance, with the next most popular choice being teaching, at around 10%.
**Highlights**
- We provide a broad education in mathematical sciences and their modern applications to commerce and the natural and social sciences, such as game theory, cryptography and the mathematics of networks. Our courses cover the theoretical background, as well as methods and modelling techniques, and equip you with a wide range of mathematical skills.
- The Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics has an excellent reputation for the quality of its academic research and teaching. In the 2020 National Students Survey, 100% of mathematics students were satisfied overall with their course. We offer a full range of academic programmes in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics and we regularly provide customised training to various public and private sector organisations.
