Course Summary

This course will be run at Salford City College, with the award being from the University of Salford. 1. To provide an opportunity for students who have successfully completed a foundation degree or equivalent to obtain an honours award in Media Make-Up Artistry. 2. To extend key skills, attributes and advanced technical ability in the art of specific areas of media make-up artistry for fashion, prosthetics and/or special effects. 3. To equip students with the professional and entrepreneurial knowledge and expertise across a variety of media make-up disciplines. 4. To enable students to develop an analytical and reflective approach to their practice and those of others as well as an ability to promote best practice in line with contemporary industry policies and guidance. Please note, it is a mandatory requirement of this course that you purchase your own make-up kit.

Course Details - Modules

1. To provide students with the capacity to work independently and encourage resilience and self-determination when practicing key advanced techniques in the application of SFX/Prosthetic/ Postiche/Media Make-Up within a project. 2. To promote a sophisticated understanding of the make up requirements, with the ability to analyse, live, recorded media and genres within a media make up context. 3. To engage in high levels of professionalism and competence in responding to a client brief. 4. To enhance students’ ability to select, research, evaluate, communicate and reflect upon source material and ideas in the evolution of their own practice. 5. To encourage a collaborative approach to the planning and application of SFX/Prosthetics/Postiche/Media Make-Up within a brief.
