Fashion Image Making and Styling with Foundation Year
University of Salford
Fashion Image Making and Styling with Foundation Year
Course Summary
The Foundation Year of the four-year programme aims to provide understanding of the key subjects in art and design to meet the prerequisites for study on the associated degree programmes (see Course Details). The key areas of study will be effective communication and study skills combined with fundamental subjects in art and design.
This course will provide you with a strong foundation in art and design, allowing you to progress onto one of our BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) degree courses in a cognate discipline.
It is ideal if you want to develop your career along an arts and design pathway but have a non-arts and design background, or you don’t meet the entry requirements for direct entry to an Honours degree.
This course is also attractive if you are returning to education or if you wish to change career direction.
Course Details - Modules
During the first year experimentation is encouraged. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of styling and image making across a range of technical and creative practices including magazine art direction, understanding taste, fashion film, politics and anthropology.
In year two, you will develop your own creative aesthetic, along with a deeper understanding of styling image making, through projects including photography, self-publishing and internships.
In year three you will own your vision, confidently communicating this to others with authenticity and professionalism. This will be through projects including live industry briefs (previously set by, Man About Town, Vivienne Westwood and Selfridges) and building up to your final major project. There will also be opportunities to showcase your work at the British Fashion Council, Graduate Fashion Week and your own exhibition in a London gallery.
