Our industry-designed BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Cyber Security with Foundation Year degree, provides specialist cyber security knowledge, and a hands-on ethos, so you're ready to fight cyber crime.** Cyber criminals are using more sophisticated techniques to infiltrate I.T systems. Many organisations throughout the world urgently need talented people to reduce their risk and help to keep their systems secure. Our industry-designed three-year course will provide you with essential computer science knowledge and specialist cyber security skills, delivered to professional standards and ready to prepare you for a rewarding and exciting career. The Foundation Year aims to provide understanding of the key subjects in computer science to meet the prerequisites for study on the associated degree programme. The key areas of study will be effective communication and study skills combined with key subjects in computer science. You will cover the basics of programming, as well as looking at the detailed operation of computer systems. Furthermore, you will cover essential mathematics and gain the correct skill set for success on the related computer science course. Following completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress on to year one of your selected degree for the remaining three years of your course (or four with a placement year). With our envious campus location, minutes from central Manchester, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the region's thriving tech community. There will also be opportunities to enjoy extra-curricular activities through our computing society, or take part in HackManchester. During your studies, you can also choose to spend a year in industry to expand your CV, apply your academic knowledge and enhance your workplace skills.
