Course Summary

**Creaking transport networks and dwindling water supplies are not the only 21st century challenges facing civil engineers. An increasingly digitised and connected world is driving greater efficiencies and sustainable practice. With growing demand for qualified civil engineers, our BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree is the gateway to a challenging and rewarding profession.** Led by our IStructE award-winning team, we’ll equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to create the infrastructure of the future. Course content is drawn from across the civil engineering spectrum. You’ll study structures, materials, mathematics and geology. You’ll build knowledge in design and construction management, highways and geotechnics. You’ll experience Constructionarium - a practical residential field course at the National Construction College. If you choose the MEng pathway, you’ll advance to study water management and transport design. Our Civil Engineering courses scored 95% for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2020 (University of Salford analysis of unpublished NSS 2020 data) **Features** • Take an industry placement to gain workplace experience, adding ‘with Professional experience’ to your degree award • Gain understanding and ability to fulfil a range of civil engineering surveying tasks, land surveying and quantity surveying • Develop your ability to design simple structural steel, analyse statically indeterminate structures and design complex structures • Identify and manage environmental issues and associated risks relating to civil engineering, including water, transport, landscape, heritage and biodiversity • Learn about materials and their fundamental behaviour, including construction materials, geology, soil mechanics and laboratory testing. • Develop professional knowledge, design and analytical skills, learning about associated social, legal and environmental issues **This course is also available with an integrated Masters route [MEng (Hons) Civil Engineering]**
