Become a multi-skilled graduate with a thorough grounding in agricultural and equine developments, equine science, business including marketing, finance, law and negotiating skills. You will also delve into the changing dynamics of the UK horse industry as well as international equine business and science, covering Northwest Europe, the USA, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. You will also benefit from internationally-recognised visiting speakers from all areas of the equine industry. With a work placement built into the course and our powerful network of graduates it’s no wonder our students have gone on to secure work in the UK and abroad at prestigious companies such as Westherbys, Volac International Dairy Nutrition, Haygain and Horse and Hound. **Course structure** You will benefit from a blend of modules that cover equine, agriculture and business delivered through lectures, seminars, tutorials, visiting speakers, case studies, laboratory practical classes and demonstrations. Modules are assessed through a range of methods including essays, reports, case studies and presentations. There are timed examinations at the end of each semester. Study tours will give you industry insight and are compulsory for this degree. You will visit Northwest Europe (two weeks) and the USA (two and a half weeks). An additional course supplement of £3,500 will apply, although study bursaries are available subject to availability and eligibility criteria. **Work placement** You will complete a 15 week work placement in the second year of the course which develops key transferable skills and helps you to gain industry contacts even before you graduate. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a range of links within the growing equine, agriculture and business industries. The one year placement in Year 3, is designed to enable students to complete a relevant enhanced work placement experience to help them identify future career choices and enhance relevant skills sets sought by employers. It is an additional module that students can choose to take after their work experience at Level 5. The module allows students to develop a deeper understanding and gain further experience in a relevant business or employment area to enhance their work experience at Level 5. Students are expected to experience and engage in various aspects of their chosen industry from an operational to practical working.
