**About the course** This course is taught at Screen and Film School, in the Brighton & Manchester Colleges. Upon successful completion you will receive a degree from BIMM Institute. This is a one-year top-up degree aimed at students who have studied practical media or arts subjects such as film making, art direction or creative media at either a foundation degree, HND or equivalent level. A three-year option is available for students holding A level or equivalent qualifications. This cutting-edge industry-led course has been developed from in-depth and ongoing industry feedback and input from all areas of production that reflects the current demand for industry ready, technically skilled students, who have the creative, logistical and production skills that are currently needed in industry. The growth in high end production for content providers such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney Plus and Apple TV in the UK supports the need for highly skilled graduates for industry. This practical course provides students with an industry-relevant offering that includes a critical understanding of applied film theory, with current industry insight and practice in film production, and the creative and technical skills to function effectively in film, television and associated sectors such as music videos, advertising and short form content. To ensure this professionalism is embedded in the curriculum the film school acts as a production house, the tutor as executive producer, to support the collaborative film production that is realised in the student’s graduation films. As film production is continuously evolving the Screen and Film School is constantly adapting to support the industry’s demands. The course’s intensive curriculum will challenge students to develop their skills and prepare them for the production world of today. Students will gain experience shooting projects on the newest developments in HD, film and digital equipment - from Arri Alexa to Red Raven - as well as classic film cameras like Panavision and Arriflex on 8mm, super 16mm and 35mm film. Disciplines you can specialise in: - Screenwriting - Directing - Cinematography: All camera department roles - Producing - First Assistant Directing (Production Logistics) - Production Sound Mixing - Editing - Lighting/Gaffer All students leave Screen and Film School with a professional portfolio of work, which will serve as a calling card for the skills. Students also gain an understanding of how to navigate the film industry which will support the technical and creative film craft skills that will be acquired.

Completion of a Level 5 qualification such as Higher National Diploma, FdA, FdSC or equivalent. In certain circumstances, applicants may be considered if they can provide evidence of prior learning with an appropriate portfolio of work and demonstrate this successfully at interview. Those applicants who meet the academic entry requirements will be invited to prepare for and participate in an applicant day held at Screen and Film School. Portfolio All applicants who demonstrate the potential to meet the entry requirements through their UCAS application will be invited to submit a show-reel and / or portfolio which will be reviewed by the Admissions Tutor.
