Your learning on the programme will be split between theory in the classroom and clinical practice in a range of placements and in the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC). You will develop theoretical knowledge through a variety of ‘blended learning’ approaches including lectures, seminars, group work, guided independent study, online learning, reflective practice and through preparation for a variety of assessments. You will be taught by expert staff and learn alongside adult and mental health nursing students, and students from other health and care professions. You will gain practical skills and experience through a range of clinical placements, such as community mental health teams, inpatient mental health services, primary care (general practice) and private, voluntary and independent services. You will also undertake placements focusing on physical care. You will be supported, supervised and assessed during placements by both clinical and academic staff. You will also spend a significant amount of time learning in our state-of-the-art CSC. These brand new facilities include realistic community and in-hospital settings. Here you will safely practice clinical skills with other students, service users, carers, role players and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff. You will also have the opportunity to organise an elective placement in the UK or abroad.
