**About the course** If you’re looking for a career in Electronic Music Production as an artist, remixer, writer, programmer or game audio designer, the BA (Hons) Electronic Music Production course can help you get there. You’ll learn cutting-edge techniques from lecturers who are already successful producers in the industry. You’ll also be taught using our state-of-the-art industry-standard equipment and facilities. The course will cover practical audio creation, recording, and software skills using a variety of Digital Audio Workstations. It will also cover refined industry knowledge, sound artistry, synthesis, sampling, and effective approaches to creating and answering professional briefs. All students will learn essential critical skills and knowledge. After building appropriate foundation knowledge, skills and experience in Year 1, you may choose three optional modules in Year 2 and a further four in Year 3 to refine your career direction. These options prepare you for a successful career in the electronic music, media composition, sound design, and game audio industries, each of which provides numerous opportunities for when you graduate. The route you choose to take is up to you. You’ll also have the opportunity to network and collaborate with students on other BIMM degree courses. You’ll work directly with them to help diversify your skills and enhance your portfolio. Students can expect to study the following core modules: YEAR 1: - The Creative Industries and you 1: Finding your path - Context and Culture of the Creative Industries - Audio Fundamentals - Music and Listening Skills - Audio capture methods and equipment - Approaches to production and workflow - Mixing multi-track audio - Industry toolkit. YEAR 2: - The Creative Industries and you 2: Creative collaboration - Creativity, identity and agency - Synthesis and sampling - Creative Production Techniques - Digital composition in context. YEAR 3 - The Creative Industries and you 3: Professional Portfolio - Final Project - Concept led practical production. A range of optional modules can be selected in years 2 and 3, subject to availability and student demand. Assessment methods are varied and balanced to suit a wide range of students and may take practical, written, portfolio or other form. Students are given the opportunity to work collaboratively with those studying other music related disciplines, representative of the way in which the Music and wider Creative Industries also require collaboration. All written and portfolio assessments are submitted electronically by way of a Virtual Learning Environment and where possible, feedback is delivered in audio and/or video form, as well as written.
