**Learn how the past has shaped the present with this exciting programme which explores international history from ancient to contemporary times. Based in the historic and vibrant city of London, you’ll have access to some of the world’s top museums and collections.** During the first year of the programme, you’ll have a broad introduction to International History, providing a great foundation of knowledge, including such topics as World Cultural History and The Global Cold War. We offer student a range of courses in international history, emphasising politics and culture. Highly topical issues are covered, such as the Rise of the Right: a History of Fascisms and Nationalism and Conflict: the subjects of international order are just as relevant today as always. You’ll also explore empires and imperialism, flows of peoples, material culture, war and peace, and the international significance of cultural and visual history. Some fascinating courses are available so that you can specialise in topics which appeal to you, such as Culture Power and Empire, Visualising Enlightenment, Comparative Monarchies: Games of Thrones, The British Empire, Race and Empire, US History, History of Fashion, The Vikings, History of Propaganda, and Migrations and Diasporas. There’s a strong emphasis on research, enabling you to gain critical skills which are transferable for postgraduate study or any career. You will develop very strong historiographical skills, working with archives, exhibitions and primary sources, and be prepared for both postgraduate studies and future career paths. You’ll have the option of doing an accredited internship programme, which can provide invaluable work experience. We offer 4-year Liberal Arts and Business BA degrees. Students entering with A levels or other level 3 qualifications usually gain exemptions from courses in the Richmond Core Curriculum which can mean that you should be able to complete your degree in less than four academic years. The interdisciplinary Liberal Arts approach offers not just breadth but also depth of study and encourages students to make sounds judgements and think independently. A Liberal Arts education is one which encourages you to explore a wide range of subjects and programmes. It reaches across disciplines, building connections between different academic areas such as literature, science, mathematics, writing, business and psychology. Upon entry to Richmond University all students study the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum before specialising in their chosen field.
