The BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice has been designed for healthcare workers with an interest in working as registered operating department practitioners to offer co-ordinated patient-centred care during the peri-operative period. Students on this course have intensive periods of time in university followed by periods in clinical practice, working alongside a qualified mentor in a range of peri-operative care settings: anaesthetics, operating theatres, emergency departments, intensive care and recovery.

Travel to placements - You are required to attend a range of placements in hospitals or community settings. There will be travel on a daily basis and this should be planned for. This will be across a range of shifts and will involve you travelling at a range of times as shifts cover the 24 hour period. This will also require you to attend a range of shifts including early shifts at 7:00 a.m., across the week and throughout the course.
