Remarkable advances in neuroscience make it one of the fastest growing areas in biomedical sciences. Neuroscience is dramatically improving our understanding of the human nervous system, and most notably, the brain. You will get a strong foundation in biomedical science provided by core modules during the first two years. Third year students will have the opportunity to undertake their own laboratory-based research project or join and work with an existing research group at QMUL.
This programme is co-taught by Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, bringing together core strengths and giving students access to a wide range of facilities.
Both schools offer students educational and academic excellence in neuroscience. From cellular and molecular neuroscience to comparative, behavioural and cognitive neuroscience, this programme delivers a wide range of research and educational expertise.

Measuring attainment in our modules against the intended learning outcomes involves either a series of coursework elements (practical reports, field course reports, essays, problem sheets, online exercises and tests), an end of semester final summative assessment/written exam or a combination of both. Final-year students undertake a research or investigative project, assessed with a detailed written report, poster and interview.
