**Overview** Want to turn your interest in finance into a long-lasting career? This BA (Hons) Accounting with Finance degree combines accountancy and financial skills to give you the economic expertise, analytical techniques and strategic insight businesses are looking for. This course is accredited by four global accountancy bodies. Studying an accredited course means you can gain exemptions from professional examinations and get on the fast-track to becoming a Chartered Accountant. You’ll get a grounding in accounting and business finance before exploring advanced topics such as taxation or accounting analytics. As you build your knowledge of business law, finance and the economy, you’ll finish with a dissertation on a topic that excites you. You’ll be supported to obtain the ACCA certificate in Data Analytics and the Bloomberg certificate. You could also gain valuable work experience on a placement. Year 1 Core modules in this year include: - Economics - Essentials of Financial Accounting - Organisations & Accounting Quantitative Methods - Toolbox for Accounting Professionals - Introduction to Finance for Accountants - Introduction to Quantitative Methods and Business Analytics There are no optional units in this year. Year 2 Core units in this year include: - Financial Management - Financial Reporting - Management Accounting - Critical Issues in Accounting and Finance Options to choose from in this year currently include: - Taxation - Accounting Packages and Systems - Business Law - Modern Foreign Language (IWLP) - Investment Analysis - Bloomberg (Level 5) - Accounting in the Community (Level 5) - Introduction to Business Analytics Placement year (optional) On this course, you can do an optional work placement year between your 2nd and 3rd years to get valuable experience working in industry. We’ll help you secure a work placement that fits your situation and ambitions. You’ll get mentoring and support throughout the year. You'll be assessed through: - analysis of topical case studies - written reports - essays - examinations - presentations - self-led project or dissertation - group work You’ll be able to test your skills and knowledge informally before you do assessments that count towards your final mark. You can get feedback on all practice and formal assessments so you can improve in the future. The way you’re assessed may depend on the units you select.
