Course Summary

The FdA in Make-Up Artistry is a specialist programme, specifically designed by industry experts in this creative field. It encompasses live research, design exploration, analysis and independent critique through effective application, reflective practice and feedback. This course aims to equip the Make-Up Artist (MUA) with all of the necessary practical and cognitive skills to develop their knowledge and understanding as a freelance Make-Up Artist. Through being a student focused programme it enables the MUA to transform each subject/talent into the given brief; be it fashion & photographic, film and television, counter cultural and special effects & characterisation. The professional and creative practices that students will develop will be executed to create a portfolio of evidence, that represents each student as an MUA. Students will enhance their creative practice through visual studies which are necessary for all MUAs. This in turn, this will enable them to challenge their perception of what creativity is and how it can be applied through professional engagement, inspiration and design. This unique FdA allows the MUA to showcase their skill set and specialise in this innovative area of the creative make-up industries. Our MUAs will exploit their acquired skills and knowledge to have confidence and mastery within a demanding industry. The programme is committed to unlocking creativity, imagination and inventiveness and how these impact and support the develop of future industry professionals. Students will leave with a professional portfolio, the industry links and understanding of practice essential to a budding career at the cutting edge of the industry.
