Course Summary

This programme has been designed with key employers within the region to ensure the provision gives students the skills required for employment within the sector. The Early Years sector has seen a number of changes in the last 10 years leading to new priorities and areas of development. This programme will explore topics such as Safeguarding, Child Health and Wellbeing, Diversity, Working with Families, Alternative Teaching and Learning, Radicalisation and more. Our onsite Nursery provides opportunities for students to further finesse professional skills as well as providing an environment to work with other students. Collaboration is promoted within the college wherever possible encouraging students to work across programmes and share their knowledge and expertise.

Course Details - Modules

The course includes the following subjects: personal and professional development, international contexts of childhood and families, discrimination and inclusion, learning environments, theoretical perspectives of development and learning, safeguarding, working in partnership, health and wellbeing, government strategies and policies, reflective practice/leadership and management.

Assessment will be through essays, case studies, reports and research, which are directly linked to your professional practice and ongoing reflection.
