Course Summary

The BSc (Hons) Games Development Technologies builds upon the industrial expertise of the Interactive Systems Studio and research capability of the key research centres within the School. This provides a programme of study that is research informed ensuring state of the art knowledge and skills drive the teaching experience. The subject group has strong links with industry and those links are used to embed relevant real-world problems directly into the programmes. The programme is supported by an Industry Advisory Panel that feeds back on the industrial relevant of the teaching materials. During the course of their studies, you will develop your own apps, games, virtual and mixed reality solutions to build their profiles as a versatile developer. This course provides challenges to innovate in the games sector whilst applying highly transferable skills for real clients on live projects. Not only do students work individually but as a member of a team, establishing a portfolio and career trajectory. This course is based on a core of computer science completed by industry veterans and the in-house interdisciplinary Interactive Systems Studio. Special features of the course are to create an impressive portfolio of tech demos, indie game releases and client projects. Experience the full development cycle from initial concept through the design process and implementation to final project delivery and product release. Alumni join to form an established developer community helping to compete in local and national events to establish a developer profile. The course places great emphasis on employability providing highly transferable skills for a fast evolving sector.
