The BA (Hons) Professional Development (Health and Social Care) is intended to provide a comprehensive knowledge and a critical understanding of key health and social care concepts, services and provision and will enable the development of innovative practice within the professional environment. This programme enables you to experience a wide range of current and thought-provoking health and social care issues and provides you with the opportunity to develop your practice-based skills by working alongside health and social care practitioners in the workplace environment and our distinguished Care Academy. This professional development L6 top up degree provides a sound and critical understanding of health and social care policy, theory and practice.

Course Details - Modules

This programme enables you to experience a wide range of current and thought-provoking health and social care issues, and provides you with the opportunity to develop your practice-based skills by working alongside health and social care practitioners in the workplace environment and our newly developed Care Academy. The programme is designed around building a critical awareness of the fundamental nature of health and social care provision; it will enable those who would like to develop a career in the health and social care workplace to gain a deeper appreciation of the breadth, depth and scope of health and social care services. In addition, you will have the opportunity to study Conceptual Elements of Health and Social Care in more depth and submit a dissertation focused on a specifc area of professional practice

Standard Qualification Requirements

Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics plus one of the following: A Levels (120 UCAS points) or equivalent vocational qualification, substantial work experience in the health and social care environment, or recent academic study at Level 3. Entry is welcomed from mature students with relevant experience in place of these qualifications, they may also have the opportunity to retake Maths and/or English whilst on the Foundation Degree. For application to the final level of study - the 'top up' year for the BA (Hons) Professional Development - learners need to have completed the FdSc Health and Social Care or a close equivalent at Foundation Degree level, or Level 5.
