Course Summary

This programme develops the knowledge and understanding of the established principles in the field of production and manufacturing, where students are encouraged to experiment in both academic and employment skills disciplines. Manufacturing covers a wide range of environments and to this end we have included a specialist food pathway under this qualification. During this Production and Manufacturing degree you will cover the following topics: - Engineering Science covers the basics of frameworks, resolving stress and strain, giving an appreciation of static and dynamic modules - Engineering Materials looks at wide range of materials and products identifying the underpinning science that supports selection of materials for manufacture - Analytical Methods an introduction to the level of analytical work expected from enquiring minds to cope with the mathematical and data manipulation for further study. Mechatronics covers the principles of operation and applications of sensors, conditioners and actuators in a range of engineering environments - Organisational Behaviour sets the base level of how groups or teams work together and what motivational and environmental factors align with well-developed research and practice. -Engineering Graduate Skills established the key link between preparing work for an academic pathway and the needs of the workplace. To plan and manage learning and understand where learning can deliver positive outcomes. - Food Production Manufacturing gives a overview of food manufacturing and a understanding from a scientific perspective - Hygiene and Food Safety brings together the rules regulations and law in relation to food handling and production. an understanding of the need for hygiene and safe practices - Production Management looks at the engineering business techniques that contribute to production of successful products - Manufacturing Systems covers the - Robotics and Automation Systems an in-depth study of robot features and attributes the make them suitable for certain tasks, hands on programming tasks to meet specifications and validation process - Manufacturing Processes a close look at the key processes involved in converting materials into useful products. - Mechanical Principles advanced development of the underpinning science and applied mechanical work. covering static and dynamic systems - Instrumentation & Control comprehensive study of sensors, conditioners and actuators, types of instrumentation, measurements and determining uncertainties - Food and Drink Innovation and new product development looks at current and significant developments that have impact on contempory products. - An introduction to food quality management: cover the quality systems the are required for effective food quality standards - An Engineering Project, .this module gives you the some flexibility to focus on a specific area of engineering, this may be directly related to work or your own interest. You will go through all aspects of prototyping and product development using a wide range of skills and expose you to the ups and downs of working on your own project.
