This course follows a multi-disciplinary approach where you will study core modules such as physiology, performance analysis, coaching and psychology alongside developing your football knowledge and play. A key aspect of this course is being able to apply what is being learned in theory sessions to the world of elite sport through your training sessions and game time. Football specific activities will be delivered by coaching staff with experience in recruitment, talent identification, coaching, management and sports governance.
Scientific methods are explored on the course in a specialised sports lab with the latest technology and analytical equipment. The laboratory boasts unique equipment such as Tobii 2 eye tracker technology, Catapult GPS Units, state-of-the-art performance analysis software (Hudl) and much more. As well as lectures at our Peterborough campus, students will use the gym facilities and sports hall at Peterborough College as well as the Mick George Training facilities at Peterborough United.
Employability is a key theme and will be embedded into your modules plus you can gain experience in the sports industry with opportunities to work with schools and sports teams. We hold annual sports conferences where you will learn and present emerging themes within the sport industry. Previous guests speakers include Mike Phelan (Manchester United Assistant Manager), Andy Etches (Director of Rezzil Virtual Reality) and Steve Gunn (GB Rowing Coach).
The 2019 National Student Survey (NSS) which measures student satisfaction on courses had a NSS results of 100% for the Sport and Exercise Science degree.
