Course Summary

The BA (Hons) in Teaching and Learning Support is a one year ‘top-up’ course which has been designed for those who have completed the Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning Support (or equivalent qualification at level 5) and want to progress on to achieve a full Bachelor of Arts degree with honours - BA (Hons). The qualification is designed for those working or wishing to work with children in key stages one and two. See our website for further information on the content and structure of this course.

Course Details - Modules

Students will explore a range of philosophical, psychological and sociological perspectives and consider how each perspective underpins different approaches to teaching and learning. In Term 1 students will study Dissertation and Managing Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning. In Term 2 & 3 you will study Contemporary Issues and Dissertation (continued from term 1), as well as Learning in the Outside Environment.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Assessment includes essays, reports, individual and group presentations, case studies, research reports and several work-based assignments. These strategies are also designed to enable the development of key transferable skills in the workplace. There are no examinations.

Additional Fee Information

Tuition fees are charged per annum and are provisional. Students will have access to the Learning Resource Centre at our Owens Road campus and learning materials, books and journals will be available online and through our VLE (Moodle). Students are responsible for their own purchase of text books. Where travel to other sites is required, this will be payable by the student. Where students fail to return loaned items within the required time they will be responsible for the cost of any library fees and fines applicable. The cost of printing and photocopying undertaken by students to support their individual learning (beyond the allowance provided by the College) is payable by the student.
