Course Summary

The Degree in Sport Injury and Treatment has been designed for those wishing to develop a career in sport therapy - successful students can work in this capacity on completion of the course. The programme will provide you with the skills to assess, treat and rehabilitate sports and general injuries. You will develop the skills to work in an unsupervised capacity providing sports therapy, body assessment and massage on both healthy and injured clients. Students will complete 100 hours supervised clinical experience and gain the requisite experience and knowledge to run their own business. The degree is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).

Course Details - Modules

This course runs over three years. In year one you will study the following modules: Developing & Enhancing Academic Skills, Practical First Aid Therapies, Sport & Exercise Science, Foundation in Sports Therapy Skills & Body Assessment, Research Skills in Sport and Sport Research Portfolio. In year two you will study: Applied Sport & Exercise Science, Principles of Sport Injury Assessment, Principles of Sport Injury Treatment & Rehabilitation and Essential Sports Therapy Skills. You will also complete an Extended Project over terms two and three. In year three, you will complete a dissertation, plus the following modules: Nutrition for Sport, Exercise & Injury, Psychology of Injury and Rehabilitation and Advanced Injury Management & Rehabilitation.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Assessment includes essays, reports, individual and group presentations, lab-based assessments, multiple choice tests, case studies, research reports, examinations and several project based assignments. These strategies are also designed to enable the development of key transferable skills in the workplace.
