Course Summary

This course will not just develop your academic and professional interests in aspects of creative writing, literature, language, drama, and media, it will also prepare you for teaching English in the 21st Century secondary classroom as we look at harnessing the technology revolution alongside the latest in ideas about learning. We will critique the theoretical underpinnings of English through a diverse range of authors and texts and explore how creative writing and performance are not just careers in their own rights, but enhance your teaching and inspire your pupils. As well as studying English in university, you will have school placement experiences during the three years which will enable you to gain Qualified Teacher Status, lifelong financial and employment security and a chance to change lives. This means that you will be able to find paid employment as a teacher simultaneously whilst you are building your writing or acting career following graduation.
