Course Summary

The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Business offers students a broad introduction to the key aspects of managing and operating in a business environment. The varied modules enable students to develop their knowledge of several key functions, including accounting, marketing, law and human resource management. This effectively builds underpinning core skills and knowledge and prepares students for subject specialisation at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.

Course Details - Modules

All of the modules on the HNC Business are compulsory. The HNC Business does not include any elective modules, therefore for students to successfully complete the course, completion of all modules is required. Business and the Business Environment Marketing Essentials Human Resource Management Management and Operations Management Accounting Business Law Financial Accounting. Managing a Successful Business Project (Pearson-set unit).

Course Details – Assessment Method

The course is delivered by a series of lectures, seminars, tutorials, assignments and project based work. There is a strong focus on practical work, devising group strategies and solutions and feeding back via formal presentation. Students are also encouraged to work independently and to develop the necessary skills to enable the presentation of the highest standard with regards to academic submissions. The combination of theory and practice will enable students to engage in a wide range of activities that reflect modern day policing practice. Assessments may take various forms and could include essays, reports, presentations, reflections on learning, and practical demonstrations.
