**Overseas study** This MSci is a five-year degree combining the multidisciplinary integrated masters with an additional year abroad. You will spend your third year studying at one of our partner institutions overseas in places such as Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, North America or Europe. An international year has many employability benefits that will help you in your career. You will develop key skills such as communication, confidence, language and independence. All of these are extremely sought after by employers. **Course structure** This integrated masters enables you to study a interdisciplinary degree for the first four years and then specialise more in the final year to study natural sciences at a more advanced level. Choose from the following multiple subject combinations: Archaeology Biology Cancer Sciences Chemistry Ecosystems and Environment Earth Science Mathematics Physics Psychology You'll choose from one of twenty-two streams combining three of the subjects during your first year. You'll study two subjects to degree level from your second year. The flexibility to study different subjects, enables you to tailor the MSci to your interests. You can continue to study familiar subjects alongside some you may not have studied before. **Research experience** The final year involves you spending half of the year working on an in-depth research project in an area of your choice. Supported by teaching staff, the project provides an excellent opportunity to consolidate your learning from earlier years. The project topic can be within your specific scientific subject or more interdisciplinary, combining elements of all the subjects you've studied. It will help you to develop the skills needed, especially if you are considering a career in research and development. You will also take taught modules, allowing you to explore some topics in more depth. **Flexibility** You can change between the BSc and MSci programmes at any time within the first two years of the course, Your year abroad does not count towards your final degree classification. **Careers** You will graduate with transferable skills that employers look for along. Alongside in-depth subject knowledge you'll be trained in critical thinking, problem solving, team work and communication. The year abroad will develop your confidence and independence, to make you career-ready. Many of our graduates pursue roles in scientific sectors such as energy, conservation and pharmaceuticals. Others continue with their studies by doing a masters or PhD.

During your first year, you will study modules from each of your three chosen subjects. You'll study 40 credits from each subject, made up of core and optional modules. You will also study the compulsory Academic and Transferable Skills Portfolio. This will help you to settle in to university life and develop skills that will be useful for your future studies. In the second year, you will chose two of your first year subjects and continue to study them in greater depth. Some subjects allow you to specialise further through optional modules. This allows you to tailor the programme to your interests. There's more focus on developing your practical skills through fieldwork, computing and laboratory classes. Your third year will be spent studying at an overseas institution. The university has global agreements in place with more than 20 universities abroad. On return for your fourth year, you'll study your two chosen subjects at a more advanced level. A highlight of this year is the synoptic project which requires you to work on a group project with students from other streams. You will bring your individual expertise to the project and find new ways to apply the theories and approaches you have learnt in previous years. The fifth year enables you to graduate with an integrated masters level qualification. You'll carry out an independent piece of research, and have modules to support this. You'll develop further skills in the coordination and communication of research projects. The project topic can be within your chosen scientific subject or more interdisciplinary combining elements of all the subjects you've studied. It will help you to develop the skills needed especially if you are considering a career in research and development.
