Are you interested in designing and making products that are smarter, faster and more sustainable? Our course provides you with the engineering knowledge and skills to improve manufacturing productivity by reducing costs and waste and ensuring that products and services are delivered to industry to cost and on time.
You’ll have access to the latest manufacturing research facilities, including robotics and 3D printing techniques. You will also apply your knowledge in individual and group project settings that will also develop your business communication skills and are an invaluable experience for your future career development.
Course Details - Modules
You will share the same first year across the department - developing knowledge of the engineering fundamentals, science and design.
Throughout the course you will learn all about 3D printing, design, solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, vibration, control and automation.
In design, the emphasis is on project work and in both the first and second years, you will undertake a design, make and test project, which you will manufacture in the department's student workshop.
A third of your third year will be spent on a group design-and-make project. In year four, a major individual project focusing on manufacturing engineering makes up a third of your studies.
In addition to compulsory manufacturing modules, you will study a range of optional modules in manufacturing, operations management and human factors. This provides you with flexibility to tailor the course to your interests.
