**This course is designed to produce creative visual thinkers who are able to apply knowledge of audio-visual principles, methodologies and visual culture to the development of commercial digital products. With a strong industry focus, it develops the up-to-the-minute skillsets demanded by current media employers. **Year One modules include:**
- Media, Popular Culture and World Cinema

- Digital Shorts
**Year Two modules include:**
- Media Law

Our students showcase their work to peers, industry professionals and VIPs at an end of the year show. Given the global nature of the industry, they are encouraged to show their work to a wider audience at competitions/film festivals both in the UK and overseas.
**Assessment**
Continuous assessment is through joint projects, industrial work experience and individual assessments. There are no examinations.
**Bursaries**
We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2022-23 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.
**Your career and progression**
After the course, you can expect to pursue a career in specialist areas within film or TV production including: camera operator, sound or lighting technician, editor, producer, or director of photography.
Our Film Academy has strong industrial links with local, national and international companies such as: British Film Institute (BFI), ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Team GB Speed Skating, Wig Wag, Wellington Films, Silver Reel Productions, Hold-That-Shot Productions, Champions UK plc, Fat Free Media, Coalescent Films, Ideal World and Warlord Games.
The course provides an excellent opportunity to continue study at a higher level. Most students progress to our Level 6 BA (Hons) Digital Media Design top-up degree, validated by Nottingham Trent University; which allows students to specialize further and develop their enterprise and entrepreneurial skills. Similar top-up courses are available at other UK higher education providers (subject to entry requirements).
