Product Designers innovate the goods and services that enrich our everyday lives. This creative course concentrates on the design of innovative products, systems and services, including consumer goods, electronic gadgets, sustainable products, sports and healthcare equipment, packaging and transportation. This course is user-centred, encouraging you to develop your own individual style, vision and philosophy.  Through a diverse range of live and applied projects you'll develop a thorough understanding of the needs of users, markets and manufacturers in order to innovate, develop and test your designs from the first preliminary sketch through to the manufacture of fully functional prototypes. **Key features** **Professional accreditation** | Our course is accredited by the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD), recognising the quality and relevance of our course content. It also means you can become a student member of the CSD for free whilst studying. **Dedicated creative spaces** | Work with our industry-standard facilities and studios, including a dedicated creative studio, prototyping workshops, CAD suites, 3D printing space and wood, metal and concrete workshops. **Live projects** | Work on project briefs from real industry clients. Previously our students have worked with Nestlé, PepsiCo, Speedo, W'innovate, Instrmnt, Herman Miller, and Matter. **Placement year** | Gain vital skills and experience in the workplace by undertaking a one-year placement on our sandwich route. Our students have spent their placements at companies such as Disney, Hasbro and Roundhouse Design. **Competitions** | You'll be encourage to challenge yourself and enter competitions and national events. Previously, our students have been winners of the BPMA Student Design Innovation Awards, the Chartered Society of Designers Awards, and the Student Starpack Awards. **Exhibitions and shows** | Exhibit your work at our final year Degree Show and nationally at events including New Designers in London. Recently, our students have also exhibited their work at the Global Grad Show in Dubai.

Year One - Design Fundamentals (40 credit points) - The Developing Product Designer (40 credit points) - Applied Product Design Practice (40 credit points) Year Two - Professional Practice (60 credit points) - Product Design: Context and Identity (60 credit points) Year Three This is your opportunity to spend a year working in industry, giving you real hands-on experience and introducing you to exciting opportunities for your future employment. A successful completion of the placement year will lead you to an additional qualification – the Diploma in Professional Practice. Final Year - Design in Practice (80 credit points) - Design in Context (40 credit points) Exhibiting as part of the Degree Shows - In your final year, you'll be invited to display your work as part of NTU's Art and Design-based Degree Shows, attended by industry experts, design professionals and prospective employers.
