This degree will provide you with an understanding of diverse peoples, nations and ideas from medieval and early modern right through to contemporary history within Britain and across to the Americas, Asia and the Far East. International Relations will help you to understand major issues in international politics and how these issues have an impact locally, nationally and internationally. This joint honours course will analyse the past, offering a unique insight into a selection of world events and analysing the ways in which beliefs and cultures shape our lives. HISTORY at NTU offers exciting opportunities to discover and understand the past through a range of skills and approaches. This course offers a diverse curriculum, covering periods from AD 700 to the present day. The academic team at NTU teaches specialist modules informed by their own research specialisms, including: The Crusades; Nazi Germany; Aztec and Inca civilisations; American and British History; and Museum and Heritage Management. The course offers a range of ways to make sense of the past and how it has impacted present day by utilising a selection of approaches and skills. This course will develop and deepen your understanding of diverse peoples, nations and ideas stretching from the medieval period right through to modern and contemporary history. Our INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS course examines the continuously changing world in which we live. You'll learn to make connections between people, movements, social and religious communities. You’ll be able to understand the importance of major issues and how they impact international politics. You'll examine complex issues that include terrorism, forms of conflict, forms of cooperation and the role of the media. You'll foster skills which employers of today's leading businesses are seeking, such as; making informed choices, imagination and adopting flexible approaches. This joint honours degree will provide you with a broad skill set such as; flexibility, imagination, creativity, being able to analyse a range of texts and the ability to make logical choices. Both subjects will help enhance your written and verbal communication that will in turn allow you to acquire excellent international skills. You'll become more passionate about the study of History and International Relations, understanding how they both impact one another. This course will help you to become more focused, have an open mind, comprehend how big issues impact history, politics and society and you'll be more intellectually curious. 100% of our BA (Hons) History and International Relations joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2016/17). Our recent graduates have carved careers within; the private sector, non-governmental organisations, the United Nations, international aid agencies, public relations, law, media social work and armed forces.
