This course will train you to think like an economist right from day one. You will develop your knowledge on the ideas and methods used by economists to support successful business and management and gain a distinctive perspective on decision making, a skill that is in demand by many employers. Understanding economics is key to understanding the external environment in which organisations operate. This course will provide you with an introduction to economic theory within a business and management context. You will develop your knowledge of the ideas and methods used by economists to support decision-making for success in business. During your second year there are a variety of unique opportunities to get involved in such as studying abroad, enterprise project or completing an internship. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in business challenges, volunteer opportunities and attend guest lectures from business leaders throughout the year. Our Business Management Joint Honours courses are all built on a common first year of study, which means you have the option to transfer to a different Joint Honours course after the first year. Our BA (Hons) Business Management Joint Honours courses have Dual Award status with the Chartered Management Institute. Year One: Six core modules. Year Two: Three core modules, plus two specialist modules and one optional module. Full-time students have the option to replace the specialist and optional modules with a unique half-year opportunity, which include studying abroad, setting up an enterprise, and an industry internship. Year Three: Placement year for students on the four-year course. Final Year: Five core modules plus one optional module. Throughout the course you will study a wide range of modules covering all areas of Business Management as well as modules more specific to Economics, including, Microeconomics Theory and Applications, Macroeconomics Theory and Applications, Economics of International Growth and Development, International Development Economics, Industry, Corporations and Governments and Investment and Portfolio Management.
