BA (Hons) Interior Design encompasses a wide range of approaches to the design and manipulation of interior spaces. You will explore the look, feel and lived experience of how our contemporary living spaces, workplaces, retail outlets, leisure venues and public buildings exert a profound influence on our understanding of the world around us. The course embraces diversity and innovation in the study of interior design and will support you to create viable and original design propositions for established and emerging markets. Integrated projects combine creativity with the exploration of techniques in representing space through 2D and 3D visualisation. Key taught components include sketching, collage, technical drawing, model making and 3D digital software, all techniques utilised by the Interior Architect. In your final year you will develop a fully evidenced interior design project, combining innovation with technical competence and realistic costings. This course includes a Year Zero, which promotes developing practical, technical and creative skills and confidence for the following three years. Building on your prior experience, you will be introduced to some of our workshops to assist your skill development, with an increasing emphasis on professional standards and independent study. The course places emphasis on your personal commitment to study, while supporting you in your progression.
