This course will allow you to top up your existing qualifications to an honours degree in one year, while benefiting from all that Northumbria University has to offer. You’ll build on your all-round knowledge of business, adding expertise in accounting and finance as well as transferable professional and managerial techniques. The course includes specialist modules that cover financial reporting analysis, strategic management accounting, and international financial management. The course provides an excellent foundation for jobs in finance, banking, government, and general business leadership.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Teaching on this programme is delivered through lectures, seminars and practicals, totalling between 12 hours per week. You will also be expected to engage in independent study involving directed and self-directed learning, around 12 hours per week. Assessments take place through coursework only. You’ll be taught by experienced lecturers and academics who use their industry experience to demonstrate how the theories you will learn translate in to real life situations. Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) is embedded throughout the course with tools such as the ‘Blackboard’ eLearning Portal and electronic reading lists that will guide your preparation for seminars and independent research.

Standard entry requires a BTEC/HND/foundation degree in Business and Finance (Accounting) at merit level. Alternatively, the following professional qualifications will also be considered: AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (level 4) plus a minimum of one year's relevant work experience CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting ACCA Professional Stage Part 2 completion ICAEW Certificate Stage completion Relevant Foundation degree or equivalent UK/Overseas qualification.
