The BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy degree prepares you to work as a registered occupational therapist in the UK and overseas. Occupational Therapy is a health and social care profession that enhances the physical and mental health and wellbeing of individuals to enable them to achieve their full potential. Occupational therapists work with people of all ages to help them to overcome the challenges of everyday life resulting from illness, trauma and aging. You will have an opportunity to engage in professional practice within a variety of health and social care settings across public, private, voluntary and independent sectors. The range of placements in traditional and non-traditional settings enables you to develop and advance your skills in assessment and intervention with clients. **STAGE 1:** • Understanding Occupational Beings (compulsory) • Personal and Professional Skills (compulsory) • Foundations of Professional Practice (compulsory) • Functional Human Sciences (compulsory) **STAGE 2:** • Research Methods (compulsory) • Occupational Engagement (compulsory) • Professional Skills for Practice (compulsory) • Development of Professional Practice (compulsory) **STAGE 3:** • Independent Study (compulsory) • Enhancing Occupational Therapy in Communities (compulsory) • Occupational Therapy Specialist Skills (compulsory) • Consolidation of Professional Practice (compulsory) *Students must take the compulsory modules. Students who do not complete the Honours Degree will be eligible for an Ordinary Degree upon successful completion of a minimum of 60 Level 6 credits. These can be from any Level 6 modules, whether identified as compulsory or designated. The name of the Ordinary Degree will differ from that of the Honours Degree due to professional body requirements. Details can be found in the relevant Supplementary Regulations. **Module information is quoted for 2021/22 entry. Please note that modules run subject to student numbers and staff availability, any changes will be communicated to applicants accordingly.

Course Details – Assessment Method

A diverse range of assessments are included in the course to ensure academic and professional competence and to prepare you for the role of an Occupational Therapist. This includes written assignments, multiple choice question tests, poster presentations, group work, reflective essays, case studies and practice portfolios. You may work together in groups for some assignments. Support is provided by tutors for all module assignments in the form of assessment tutorials and marking criteria.
